How to read these numbers
Challenge rate is the share of questions that pushed back, pressed for specifics or questioned management’s assumptions. It describes how questions were asked on the calls tracked here; it does not measure whether any view turned out to be right.
Rounding. Rates are rounded to whole percentages, so a small share can show as 0% even when some questions were challenging. The count beside each rate is exact; “none of N questions” means no question was challenging.
No questions recorded. “—” means there is nothing to calculate: no questions were recorded for that period on the calls tracked here. It does not mean there was no activity.
Fewer than 3 questions. A company-level rate is withheld when fewer than 3 questions were recorded for that company; the questions are still counted everywhere else.
Small samples. Profiles with fewer than 10 questions are marked Limited sample.
Reporting periods. Questions are grouped by the calendar quarter each company’s fiscal reporting period maps to, not by the date of the call. Periods without a calendar mapping are listed separately under their fiscal label.

Calendar 2026 Q2
are you talking about from deal signage to actually seeing a revenue, or was that window referring to something else?
Show response
McGowan confirmed 6-9 months from signing to revenue recognition on large deals and said contracts have mechanisms to pass component cost increases through to customers.
Calendar 2026 Q1
how should we think about the impact on any amount of on-demand GPU capacity you are able to offer?
Show response
Tom said there is no trade-off between committed and on-demand capacity, they support both models and will purchase more GPUs as needed. The mix of CPU vs GPU varies by application, with inference requiring both. Akamai's value is providing the most computationally efficient resource for each workload and placing it close to the user.
Calendar 2025 Q4
What are you guys seeing as some of the main reasons for customers choosing Akamai over whether it's other hyperscalers or other competitors for compute workloads at the edge?
Show response
Tom cited performance, scale, and lower cost as key differentiators. All three major US hyperscalers use Akamai compute not for cost savings but for performance from running logic in more distributed locations. Other customers get substantial savings moving from hyperscalers. Akamai itself achieved major savings moving its own applications off hyperscalers.
Calendar 2025 Q3
would there be other things outside of kind of what I think of as like almost the Internet of Things use case that might also trigger more inference at the edge
Show response
Tom described a future where everything is model-based and AI-powered. Proliferation of small to medium models operating close to users for specific real-time tasks. Industry leaders now talking about inference as ultimately larger than training.
which segments were strong or maybe stronger than you expected in the international segment?
Show response
Ed attributed international strength to APJ leading on compute adoption and security. EMEA also strong with surprisingly healthy Western European growth. Edgio contracts were more U.S.-concentrated so now anniversarying. Compute and APJ is the standout.
Calendar 2025 Q2
Curious what the pipeline looks like heading into the second half for those
Show response
Ed said CIS pipeline is growing with participation across verticals and geographies. Larger deal sizes than typical security/delivery. Existing customer expansion plus new logos. Also highlighted API security pipeline as extremely strong with very healthy demand.
how much visibility do you actually have, or maybe control do you have in the movement of those applications?
Show response
Ed explained it varies by customer. Some depend on Akamai building capacity, others have their own migration windows and moratoriums. Good communication with customers and pretty good line of sight. Confident in overall contract size with upside potential.

Calendar 2026 Q2
should we expect that the growth over and above the net retention rate could start to widen relative to history?
Show response
Khozema said both same-store expansion and new paying customers are adding to growth but did not commit to a wider gap; Thomas said $1 million-plus customers grow over 20%.
Calendar 2026 Q1
is this one of those situations where the low-hanging fruit on the self-serve mechanism has kind of been picked
Show response
Thomas said onboarding and upgrade fixes drove gains and new console capabilities launching next week should keep conversion and multiproduct adoption rising.
Calendar 2025 Q4
I was wondering if you could talk about kind of the biggest levers for the NRR acceleration year-over-year
Show response
Asked by Jack on for Jackson Ader. Aidan said DBNE of 109% was roughly flat sequentially, driven by multiproduct expansion in voice and messaging.
how are you thinking about the pipeline of single product customers adopting the incremental 1 or 2 throughout 2026
Show response
Asked by Jack on for Jackson Ader. Thomas said most single-product customers are self-service, and new tooling plus AE comp will push multichannel use.
Calendar 2025 Q2
On the AI voice piece, is this a separate competitive environment from kind of the rest of your business?
Show response
CEO said many voice AI vertical players build on Twilio and its CDP context is an edge; CFO said AI start-ups founded in the last 3 years spend over 7 figures with it.
How do you view your ability to drive pricing maybe in that future?
Show response
CEO said the near-term focus is multiproduct and AI growth, which lift gross margin; list price rises reach large enterprises slowly and self-serve faster.

Calendar 2025 Q4
one of the only downsides to think about, about a channel presence is that it does make you a little less nimble. Right? Like, you know, you can if you wanted to add sales you could do that a littl...
Show response
Prince pushed back: channel provides leverage, not constraint. Will continue hiring great direct sales people while using channel for additional leverage. Don't expect to reach 90%+ channel like hardware companies or Zscaler/Netskope, but significant room to grow. Seifert added it's not either-or but stacking both vectors independently, full speed ahead on adding sales capacity with early-year hiring for head start.
Calendar 2025 Q3
certainly losing CJ is a real loss, even if it is a great opportunity. And I'm just curious, whether you feel comfortable with the bench that he leaves behind and how you kind of ensure maybe that ...
Show response
Prince emphasized CJ instilled customer obsession rather than bringing in new people, so no flight risk. Engineering and product bench remains strong. Described the role as the most exciting product/engineering leadership position in tech, confident in attracting world-class replacement.
The other side of that coin is now seasonality matters, right? We're heading into a fourth quarter. If you're selling more enterprises, that makes December all that much more important
Show response
Seifert said guidance reflects pipeline, sales productivity, net sales capacity, and developer business velocity, all encouraging. Prince confirmed pipeline coverage for Q4 is very good, noting some seasonality has existed historically but they feel very good about coverage.
