How to read Tellvest industry earnings-call sentiment
You follow U.S. public companies and want the industry roll-up first: how management across a whole industry sounded on recent earnings calls, not only one ticker.
On Tellvest, that roll-up lives on Industries. Each industry page aggregates earnings-call sentiment for the companies Tellvest tracks in that industry. This page shows what an industry view contains, how it differs from Economy and Earnings Pulse, how to walk a free prior-quarter example (Semiconductors), and what is free versus Pro.
Strong disclaimer: Tellvest is descriptive analysis for research and informational purposes only. It is not investment advice. Past performance does not predict future results. Sentiment scores and price-return charts are different layers. Confirm the live industry page before you cite numbers elsewhere.
What an industry page shows
From About (Sector & Industry Intelligence): sentiment scores and macro signals are aggregated by sector and industry. Industry pages surface the same earnings metrics as individual companies, rolled up across members, so you can separate company-specific signal from broader industry conditions.
In practice, an industry page typically gives you:
- Aggregate earnings-call sentiment. A 1-10 industry score for a labeled quarter, with the company count in that industry sample. A score of 10 is most positive. The reading is built from what management said on recent calls, from SEC filings and public earnings transcripts (Industries).
- Quarter selector. Move across calendar quarters. Newest quarter is Pro; prior quarters stay free (see Free vs Pro below).
- 1-year / YTD price performance for largest members, plus equal-weight vs SPY. These charts are price returns, not sentiment. The live chart label states that 1Y and YTD are each name's own price return, and that equal-weight averages full-history members equally (not rebalanced). Read them as price context beside the sentiment score, not as a substitute for the score.
- Macro / industry signal context when the page surfaces themes or related panels for that industry.
Tellvest covers 500+ U.S. public companies. The Industries index is how you browse every industry Tellvest tracks.
Industries index vs Economy sectors vs Earnings Pulse
Same research family. Different job.
| Open this | When you want |
|---|---|
| Industries | Browse every industry Tellvest tracks (grouped by sector on the index). Open one industry page for that industry's aggregate earnings-call sentiment and related panels. |
| Economy (Economic Sentiment Index) | The living market-wide dashboard: ESI composite, macro signal heatmap, Macro Backdrop (FRED), "What the Fed is saying," quarter selector, sector views. |
| Earnings Pulse | The shareable quarterly snapshot: economy-wide score for that quarter, optimistic / least optimistic sectors, movers, themes, permanent past-quarter URLs. |
Use Industries when the question is "how did this industry sound?" Use Economy when you want the interactive ESI workflow. Use Pulse when you want the finished-quarter (or early-season) market handoff. For those walks, see How to read Tellvest's Economic Sentiment Index and How to read Tellvest Earnings Pulse. For one ticker, see How to read a company earnings-call score.
Index scale: Industries groups industries under sector headings (Basic Materials, Communication Services, Consumer Cyclical, Consumer Defensive, Energy, Financial Services, Healthcare, Industrials, Real Estate, Technology, Utilities, and peers). The index links to 116 industry pages (/industries/{slug}). The page itself does not print "116" as a headline label; that count is from the live index links on the verification date.

Walkthrough: Semiconductors (free prior quarter)
Worked example: Semiconductors.
- Open Industries, find Semiconductors under Technology (24 companies listed on the index), or go straight to /industries/semiconductors.
- Read the aggregate sentiment line for the free prior quarter shown on the page.
- Separately scan the 1-year performance chart for largest members and the equal-weight vs SPY lines. Treat those figures as price returns, not as the sentiment score.
- Use the quarter control if you need an earlier free quarter. Newest quarter detail is Pro.
Live sentiment:
As of 2026 Q2, the Tellvest aggregate earnings-call sentiment for the Semiconductors industry is 8.5/10 across 24 companies.
That is the industry roll-up for calendar 2026 Q2. Re-check the live page before you cite it; aggregates can move as more calls are analyzed.
Live price-return context on the same page (not sentiment):
The page's "1-year performance" block for largest members included examples such as TSM, NVDA, MU, AVGO, INTC, AMD, and QCOM with each name's own 1Y and YTD price returns. Equal-weight industry (23) showed +114.0% 1Y and +96.0% YTD. SPY showed +16.6% 1Y and +13.4% YTD. The page states: "% change over the trailing year, log scale. 1Y and YTD are each name's own price return. Equal-weight: average of every full-history member, weighted equally, not rebalanced."
Do not mix the 8.5/10 sentiment line with those percentage price returns. One is earnings-call tone aggregated across the industry. The other is trailing price performance for context.

Free prior vs newest (same page): the quarter control lists 2026 Q3, 2026 Q2, 2026 Q1, 2025 Q4, 2025 Q3, and more. The page states that the newest quarter is a Pro feature and that all prior quarters stay free. On this check, the free aggregate shown was 2026 Q2 at 8.5/10 across 24.
After the industry read, open a company page when one name matters more than the roll-up (How to read a company earnings-call score).
Free vs Pro on industry views

FAQ
What is industry earnings-call sentiment?
It is Tellvest's aggregate 1-10 reading of how management across the companies in an industry sounded on recent earnings calls. Industries states that each industry page aggregates that view from SEC filings and public earnings transcripts. About (Sector & Industry Intelligence) describes the same roll-up of sentiment scores and macro signals by sector and industry.
How is an industry score different from a company score?
A company 1-10 score is one name, one quarter (How to read a company earnings-call score). An industry score rolls up the companies Tellvest tracks in that industry for the labeled quarter (example checked 2026-09-23: Semiconductors 8.5/10 across 24 for 2026 Q2). One company can sit above or below its industry reading.
How is Industries different from ESI or Earnings Pulse?
Economy (ESI) is the market-wide living dashboard. Earnings Pulse is the shareable economy-wide quarterly snapshot. Industries is the per-industry browse and roll-up. Same sentiment family; different surface. Full walks: How to read Tellvest's Economic Sentiment Index and How to read Tellvest Earnings Pulse.
Are industry pages free?
Prior quarters on industry views are free. The newest quarter on industry pages is part of Tellvest Pro ($12/month) as earnings season unfolds. That matches Pricing and About Free & Pro. On Semiconductors (checked 2026-09-23), prior quarters stay free; the newest quarter is Pro.
Where should I start?
Open Industries, pick an industry (for example Semiconductors), read the free prior-quarter aggregate score and company count, then keep the price-return chart labeled as price returns only. For market-wide context, open Economy or Pulse. For one ticker, open a company page.
Is this investment advice?
No. Tellvest provides descriptive analysis for research and informational purposes only and is not investment advice. Past performance does not predict future results. See About.
