Sentiment · FY2025 Q1
As of FY2024 Q4, the Tellvest earnings-call sentiment score for GameStop Corp. (GME) is 3/10.
GameStop's fiscal 2024 fourth quarter (the 13 weeks ended February 1, 2025) paired a sharp top-line contraction with markedly stronger profitability: net sales fell about 28% to $1.283 billion from $1.794 billion a year earlier, hurt by declines in hardware and software and a shorter 13-week period versus the prior year's 14-week period. Despite the lower sales, net income roughly doubled to $131.3 million ($0.29 diluted EPS) from $63.1 million ($0.21), as gross margin expanded to 28.3% from 23.4%, SG&A fell to $282.5 million from $359.2 million, and net interest income jumped to $54.8 million from $15.3 million on cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities of $4.775 billion. Collectibles rose to $270.6 million, 21.1% of net sales, even as hardware and software shrank, and the company completed its divestiture of Italy and wound down operations in Germany. GameStop provided no forward guidance and, consistent with recent practice, held no earnings call.
