Best Buy opened fiscal 2027 with better-than-expected results, reporting enterprise revenue of $8.9 billion up 1.9% and enterprise comparable sales growth of 2%, ahead of its roughly 1% outlook, with positive comps across most major categories led by gaming, computing and mobile phones. Profitability improved as the adjusted operating income rate rose 30 basis points to 4.1% on SG&A leverage and the domestic gross profit rate expanded 20 basis points to 23.7%, lifting adjusted diluted EPS 11% to $1.28 (GAAP diluted EPS was $1.31). Newer profit streams scaled, with domestic Marketplace GMV reaching approximately $250 million and Best Buy Ads contributing to gross margin, while appliances remained a soft spot before turning to demand growth in May. Management maintained its full-year FY27 guidance of revenue of $41.2 billion to $42.1 billion, comparable sales of down 1% to up 1%, and adjusted diluted EPS of $6.30 to $6.60, and flagged rising memory costs as a watch item for computing pricing in the back half. The quarter also marked a leadership transition, with Jason Bonfig set to become CEO on November 1.
