Pinterest delivered a stronger-than-expected Q1 2026, with revenue of more than $1 billion, up 18% (15% constant currency) and above the high end of guidance, and adjusted EBITDA of $207 million at a 20% margin, up 40 basis points and aided by a Canada Digital Services Tax reversal. Record 631 million global MAUs (up 11%) and roughly 80 billion monthly searches underpinned the quarter, while revenue excluding the largest retailers accelerated versus Q4, evidence of the diversification push under new Chief Business Officer Lee Brown. The large tariff-pressured retail cohort remained a headwind but improved relative to expectations as AI bidding optimizations linked to advertisers' measurement systems began to offset it, and the tvScientific connected-TV acquisition closed in the quarter. Pinterest repurchased roughly $2 billion of stock (about 109 million shares near $18, a 16% share reduction) funded partly by a $1 billion convertible note, and guided Q2 revenue to $1.133-1.153 billion (14-16% growth). GAAP results included a net loss (EPS of -$0.12) against a marginally profitable prior-year quarter, driven by below-operating-line items while operating and adjusted-EBITDA margins expanded modestly.

“that only 2% of their prompts are commercial.”
Management contrasted Pinterest's ~50% commercial search mix against ChatGPT's own stated ~2% commercial prompt share, arguing Pinterest occupies a distinct high-commercial-intent niche.
“we are also extending that performance to the biggest screen in the home through our acquisition of TV Scientific, which closed in Q1.”
Pinterest closed its acquisition of tvScientific in Q1, beginning to integrate its audience signal into connected-TV campaigns with early encouraging advertiser results.
