C3.AI closed a dismal fiscal 2026 with fourth-quarter revenue of just $51.6 million, and founder Tom Siebel returned as Chairman and CEO, moving Stephen Ehikian to President, to lead a turnaround he framed bluntly as fixing what he called completely unacceptable sales execution. The restructuring was completed and expanded, cutting headcount from roughly 1,075 to about 700 and realizing almost $130 million of the roughly $135 million in planned annual cost savings, while non-GAAP gross margin stayed depressed at 37% and the operating loss was $54.4 million. In a notable signal of conviction, Siebel personally purchased 6.17 million shares at $11.16 for about $69 million. Management introduced fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of $210 million to $240 million, below fiscal 2026, and detailed a sales territory overhaul expanding coverage from roughly 100 to 150 accounts per region to on the order of 1,000.

“the idea that the market opportunity isn't big is, I think, inconsistent with the performance you've seen out of Palantir.”
C3.ai's CEO cited Palantir's strong performance and analogous go-to-market motion as evidence the enterprise AI application market is large and real, a positive signal for Palantir.
