Conagra closed fiscal 2026 with net sales up 3.6%, but a large non-cash impairment drove a GAAP operating loss and a net loss of $3.37 per share. New CEO John Brase, roughly six weeks into the role, paired the results with a reset: the board cut the dividend to free up cash for reinvestment and to accelerate deleveraging toward a 3.0 leverage target. Fiscal 2027 guidance calls for organic net sales down about 2% on mid single digit volume declines and an operating margin of 10% to 10.5%, well below the roughly 16% the company earned a few years ago. Management is stepping up brand building by $40 million, a 14% increase, and adding $125 million of capital for supply-chain resilience and in-sourcing, while leaning on above 4% productivity and inflation-justified pricing that lands mid second quarter. Analysts pressed on whether the reinvestment is sufficient and how many more years of volume declines the business can absorb, leaving the credibility of the turnaround plan to be proven at the early 2027 investor day.
