AEP delivered Q1 operating EPS of $1.64, up from $1.54 a year ago, as data center load growth accelerated with incremental contracted commitments reaching 63 GW expected by 2030. The capital plan expanded by $6 billion to $78 billion driving an 11% rate base CAGR, and the company won competitive 765kV transmission projects across multiple RTOs. PJM interconnection speed raised strategic concerns about the pace at which committed load could actually energize.
