Domino's grew GAAP revenue 4.3% to $1.19 billion and GAAP diluted EPS 6.8% to $4.07, but U.S. same-store sales grew just 0.1% and management conceded the quarter fell short of plan. Order counts rose meaningfully in both delivery and carryout against a QSR category management believed was flat, while average ticket fell as the premium series and Slice Sauce failed to lap the prior-year Stuffed Crust promotion. International comps declined 0.1%, weighed down by Domino's Pizza Enterprises deliberately reducing lower margin transactions alongside macro and geopolitical pressure. Income from operations increased 2.6% excluding foreign currency and refranchising gains, slightly below management's expectations as worldwide rally costs lifted G&A. Full-year comp, retail sales and operating income guidance were maintained, but the U.S. net store outlook was trimmed to approximately 175 from 175 plus on franchisee profitability pressure, and Joe Jordan was named to succeed Russell Weiner as CEO in October.

“The CHICK 'N' DIP has been launched by DPG, Domino's Pizza Group, they reported in Q1 they were very happy with the launch.”
The UK master franchisee reported satisfaction with its CHICK 'N' DIP launch, a product Domino's flags as a candidate signal for U.S. menu innovation.
“Domino's Pizza Enterprises was definitely a drag on our same-store sales because their performance continued to be impacted by the approach that their management have already talked about, which is they've actively decided to actually reduce the lower margin transactions.”
The ASX-listed master franchisee is trading order counts for margin, and the resulting same-store sales decline is material enough to weigh on Domino's international comp.
“We're seeing this in the case of Uber, and we expect to see this in the case of DoorDash over time as well.”
Management expects the compounding customer-acquisition benefit already visible on Uber to build on DoorDash as Domino's spends more time on the platform.
“We continued to grow on both Uber and DoorDash and believe that we are now the number one pizza player on both platforms.”
Domino's says it is still growing volume on Uber's delivery marketplace and now leads pizza there, indicating continued order flow through the platform.
